The demand for capacity at the transmission interconnections between Austria and Switzerland is usually much higher than the available capacity. The auctioning of the reservation of the capacity aims at providing a transparent method of congestion management, which is jointly offered by the Transmission System Operators swissgrid and APG for the Swiss-Austrian border.

For monthly auctions the auction in which the reservation of capacity for monthly electricity transports from the first through the last day of the following calendar month is auctioned.

Auction 1 deals with the direction from Switzerland to Austria
Auction 2 deals with the direction from Austria to Switzerland

The capacity is offered in the auctions in form of the following product:

Baseload
Capacity from 00:00 to 24:00 (CET) , Monday to Sunday

Please note, the yearly and monthly auction procedure were/are done by an internet based electronic plattform according to the current published Auction Rules for the relevant borders and also to the Annex Manual Capacity Auction System.
